Evanston, IL
Perhaps most known for being the home of Northwestern University, this bustling community of roughly 80,000 also enjoys some of Chicagoland's best dining and nightlife options. One of the most popular spots in downtown Evanston is undoubtedly Temperance Beer Company, which offers a diverse selection of craft beers and Summer DJ sets every Friday, and The Blue Horse Tavern, known for its extensive whiskey selection. In the bustling concrete jungle known as downtown Chicago, high-rise condos occupy a significant portion of the local real estate landscape. More than mere walls to separate living spaces, condos are becoming veritable sanctuaries in the sky, and at the heart of this transformation is the trend toward floor-to-ceiling windows. To prospective buyers, the idea of bringing nature into their living space is a compelling thought, but what are the actual benefits beyond the aesthetic allure? Are these expansive glass panels really worth the premium price? For many buyers they are, and certainly at any of the highly sought-after condo buildings featured below.
One Museum Park
Floor-to-ceiling windows are only worthwhile with a great view. Luckily, One Museum Park offers the best in all of Chicago. This downtown condo was completed in 2009 as part of a two-phase project by renowned architectural firm Pappageorge/Haymes. It stands 62 stories tall and comprises 289 individual residences, plus 467 parking spaces, and several thousand square feet of amenities. Living here is a true five-star experience thanks to both indoor and outdoor pools, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and 24-hour door service. The package is made even sweeter by the wealth of floor plans available to choose from - one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom options ranging between 950 square feet and 2,200 plus square feet in size.
Cirrus Chicago
Add Lake Michigan and the Chicago River together, mix in some beautiful urban scenery, and you get the breathtaking sights offered by Cirrus Chicago. A newer development located on N. Harbor Drive, it's a foolproof option for anyone looking for luxurious lakeside living. Units vary in size and layout but share a common characteristic that defines residency in the building: floor-to-ceiling windows looking out onto the city and its waterways. Designer fixtures, modern appliances, and hardwood floors don't hurt, either. Choose to live here and you'll receive access to a LONG list of amenities, including but not limited to a fitness center, a yoga studio, a bike room, a fireplace lounge, a game room, a maker space, a golf sports simulator, a conservatory, a salon with massage suites, a kid's club, an indoor dog run and dog washing station, an indoor screening room, a 25-yard lap pool, and even a 'jam room.'

The Grant
Let us introduce you to one of the most rightfully sought-after condo buildings in all of Chicago: The Grant. Completed in July 2010 after three long years of construction, it both literally and figuratively stands as an icon within the city skyline. The building itself is over 180 meters tall, largely defined by multiple faces of glass that twinkle gorgeously in the sun. Condo units are spacious and modern with floor-to-ceiling windows to best capitalize on the gorgeous views of Lake Michigan and the cityscape. But it's not just about the impressive building and its stunning suites - The Grant also boasts a prime location in one of Chicago's most desirable neighborhoods. Situated East of Michigan Avenue and North of Central Station, residents have easy access to some of the city's best dining, shopping, and entertainment options. Plus, with Lake Michigan just steps away and multiple parks nearby, summertime activities are easily taken care of.
Silver Tower
They call it Silver Tower, but it's more see-through than anything else. Floor to ceiling glass defines the exterior facade of this building, which stretches 39 stories above downtown Chicago. That lofty height affords residents of 229 total units great views of the city and Lake Michigan in every direction. It also garners attention from the outside; everyday passersby would be blind to miss this 132.1 m tall glistening structure. Step inside and you'll find a sleek and modern lobby run by 24-hour door staff. A fitness center and two outdoor terraces wait behind locked doors for residents who want to workout or kick back and relax in the sun.
56 W. Huron
56 W. Huron is perhaps one of the Chicago condo market's best-kept secrets. Situated in the city's Near North neighborhood, it offers buyers the unusual luxury of being able to purchase as much as 4,300 square feet of space, plus the privacy that comes with living in a one-unit-per-floor building. That's right - there are only ten of them here, along with a duplex penthouse. 56 W. Huron's short stature is compensated by expansive floor-to-ceiling windows in every suite. Of course, it's worth stating that the draw isn't necessarily the windows themselves, but rather the views they allow for. Every unit looks out onto the Chicago cityscape from its own unique perspective. You're high enough to see recognizable landmarks and low enough to not experience a panic attack every time you look down.2024-02-10T08:06:00-07:002024-03-03T10:00:39-07:00Nick Nastostag:chicagospropertyshop.com,2012-09-20:8019Affordable Loft Buildings in Chicago: Urban Living That Won't Break The Bank
For many Chicago homebuyers, the allure of a classic urban loft is undeniable, offering not just a residence, but a slice of history and the freedom to create a uniquely tailored living experience. But here's the catch—as dreamy as it sounds, lofts throughout Chicago often carry a hefty price tag. The challenge, then, is finding the nexus of affordability and desirability, and it's a hunt that requires both efficiency and a touch of creativity. Below is a look at just several of Chicago's most affordable loft buildings, giving those looking for a loft on a tight budget a bit of a headstart.
1503 S. State
Modernity meets vintage class at 1503 S. State. Originally constructed in the late 1800s, it's one of Chicago's few remaining pre-war buildings. Both the inside and out have since been updated with new appliances, advanced heating systems, and sleek fixtures to accommodate the needs of today's condo dwellers. All of the character has been preserved, though; apartments boast mighty 11-foot tall timber loft ceilings and massive windows that let in an abundance of natural light. Located in the South Loop, this eight-floor building is within walking distance of so many great things to see and do. Museum Campus, McCormick Place, and Grant Park are all waiting to be explored.
Harrison Street Lofts

Haberdasher Square Lofts
Haberdasher Square Lofts' character reflects a simpler time in Chicago's history - back when bootleggers and smugglers ruled the streets and speakeasies were the hottest spots in town. The building, originally constructed in 1920, now serves as a relic of the past and a perfectly preserved example of the old-world architecture that defines this city today. It's located northeast of Greektown among several other historic structures still standing on W Jackson Avenue. The property was renovated for residential use in 1995 and has since attracted a diverse community of residents. Inside, units at Haberdasher Square Lofts are spacious and open with high ceilings, exposed brick walls, and large industrial windows that flood units with natural light. While some of the larger options will certainly cost you, smaller suites can go for as low as $200,000.
Catalpa Gardens
Catalpa Gardens offers a newer take on the classic mid-rise loft-style we've covered so far. Completed in 2008, it houses 126 residences across 11 stories in the Edgewater neighborhood. The building is just one of many iconic projects by Greene and Proppe Design, an award-winning firm specializing in the creation of quaint, homey spaces that balance urban and natural flair. Unit interiors share common trails like open-concept layouts, wide-plank flooring, and walk-out balconies. The views are great from all around, whether you're facing north, south, east, or west. Pricing is quite reasonable, averaging around $300,000.
VB 1224 Lofts
Like the loft aesthetic? Then you'll love 1224 W. Van Buren. This place is the embodiment of everything a downtown mid-rise should be, and then some. A former paper mill, this condo sits on the Southwest edge of Chicago's famed West Loop neighborhood. All of this comes at a surprisingly low cost, too - between $120,000 and $300,000. 2024-02-05T07:48:00-07:002024-02-28T08:45:49-07:00Nick Nastostag:chicagospropertyshop.com,2012-09-20:7736Chicago New Construction Apartments With The Best Amenities
The Downtown Chicago landscape has added quite a few high-profile apartment towers in recent years. And with competition as fierce as its ever been, developers are pulling out all the stops when it comes to what lifestyle amenities and building features to include in order to attract new tenants. Whether it’s a rooftop pool and sundeck or an on-site dog park with a pet grooming area, here’s a look at just some of Chicago’s new construction apartment buildings with the best amenities.
NEMA Chicago
A big number like 70,000 holds a lot of possibilities, especially when it's in the context of square feet. That's how much space worth of amenities NEMA Chicago has to offer, one of downtown's hottest new apartment towers. This opulent high-rise touts tons of five-star features and on-site services, including but not limited to a pool, media lounge, Chef's Kitchen, gym, private movie theatre, Kids Club, Pet Spaw, saunas, steam rooms, and locker room. And unlike many other older apartment buildings, which often force residents to book spaces at a front desk or use an outdated online portal, NEMA runs on an advanced in-house app. This not only simplifies the reservation process but also makes it easier to submit maintenance requests, manage deliveries, arrange contact-free package pick-up, approve guest access, and RSVP to events. That's thanks largely to a massive suite of amenities few other new construction apartment buildings in the city can match. Sure, a swimming pool is cool. But what about an exclusive resident lounge? a cafe with billiards? an extra social room? Private conference rooms? a buisiness center with coworking space? The list goes on and on, and we haven't even gotten into Parkline's exterior grounds, which are just as expansive and include a panoramic terrace, sundeck, private dog run, landscaped gardens, and several outdoor dining areas.

New construction condos are among the most expensive properties you’ll find on Chicago’s real estate market. And while not every condo development targets luxury home buyers, most high-profile high-rises in the downtown area feature lavish living spaces with resort-style amenities to match, providing prospective buyers with the ultimate urban living experience. If you’re interested in the luxury condo market specifically, here’s an updated look at just some of the most expensive new construction condo buildings in Chicago currently.
One Chicago
One Chicago takes the first spot on our list of expensive condo buildings for good reason. The highly-anticipated project introduces a new standard of living to the city by way of pricey units that are no less than one million dollars apiece. In fact, there are options north of $10 million available if your budget stretches that far. The high prices at One Chicago buy ample floor space, with available units ranging between 1,200 and 6,000 square feet in size. Larger residences have nearly 1,000-square-foot balconies, while every home enjoys the kind of view you can only get with a high rise as tall as this one.
Sitting right between Chicago's Gold Coast and River North neighborhoods, this condo puts owners within walking distance of practically everything there is to see and do downtown. But who would want to leave when there's so much to explore on-site - athletic facilities, fine dining venues, and even a flagship Whole Foods Market.
St. Regis Residences Chicago
If the name 'St. Regis Residences Chicago' sounds expensive, you're inferring right. This opulent condo building located in the city's downtown core is incredibly pricey, offering one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom units that range between $860,000 and $18 million. Full floor, 6,800 square foot, 360 View Penthouse Residences cater to those who want the space and privacy of a single-family home, but in the sky.
The St. Regis Chicago building boasts a range of five-star amenities - from a pool and spa to a 5,600 square-foot fitness center - encompassed by stunning Lake Michigan and city skyline sights. Residents enjoy access to the attached hotel's full breadth of services and dining venues.

Tribune Tower Residences
Tribune Tower is an iconic skyscraper that has defined Chicago's skyline since 1925. It has served many purposes over the years, most notably as the headquarters for the Chicago Tribune newspaper. Now a new project seeks to reimagine the tower as a residential building, offering luxurious living in one of the city's most historic and recognizable buildings. The Tribune Tower Residences comprise 162 condo units ranging between one and four bedrooms in size. There are 56 different floor plans to choose from, although all share characteristic features like high ceilings, wide-planked flooring, and custom molding. They're also equally equipped with Sub-Zero®, Wolf®, and Miele appliances for a modern touch.
Of course, living in a piece of history isn't cheap. Those wishing to buy their own slice of the Tribune Tower should be ready to shell out at least one and a half million dollars for a one-bedroom unit. The most expensive penthouse units can go for up to $7 million. It's also worth mentioning that monthly Homeowners Association Fees are quite high - in the multiple thousands.
Cirrus Chicago
Cirrus Chicago defines itself as 'resort-style lakefront living' and it's easy to see why. Located right on the shores of Lake Michigan in downtown Chicago, this luxury condominium complex offers residents breathtaking views and top-of-the-line amenities. The building itself is a stunning 47-story high-rise consisting of 350 one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom units. The floor-to-ceiling windows in each living space provide unparalleled sights of the lake and city skyline, while kitchens are dressed to impress with quartz countertops, energy-efficient Gaggenau and Bosch appliances, Snaidero cabinets, and large pantries.
Being steps from DuSable Harbor, Cirrus Chicago puts buyers within walking distance of Navy Pier, Millennium Park, and Grant Park. The complex is also home to a slew of five-star amenities, including a massage room, indoor dog run, fire pit, indoor dining area, swimming pool, spin and yoga studios, wine tasting lounge, maker space, private rooftop terrace, conference rooms, and bike room. It can all be yours for an average purchase price of one million dollars.
1550 on the Park
Located at 1550 N Clark Street, Fifteen Fifty on the Park is a beautiful representation of three of Chicago's best neighborhoods - Gold Coast, Lincoln Park, and Old Town - fused into one. Its 32 signature residences pair all the finishes and features you'd expect from a downtown condo with natural surroundings that feel like an escape from the noise. Suites are quite large and look even bigger thanks to expansive, light-inviting windows. Considered in tandem with a host of amenities and services, it isn't hard to justify the one to four million dollar cost of living here. 2024-01-24T08:50:29-07:002024-01-25T11:34:16-07:00Nick Nastostag:chicagospropertyshop.com,2012-09-20:7660Scenic Parks & Green Spaces in Chicago Locals Love Frequenting

Most luxury condo buyers in Chicago aren’t just looking for a unit with premium kitchen appliances and nice views. Nowadays, every home buyer and renter also consider what else a particular building has to offer, and that’s especially the case with new construction. Over the last decade or so, developments have really taken things up a notch when it comes to lifestyle amenities and common building features. And if you’re wondering which new construction condo buildings in Chicago offer the best amenities, you’ve come to the right place. Let’s take a look below at just some of the options available to new construction buyers below.
The Orchard Residences - Lincoln Park
Want to experience the epitome of luxury? Look no further than The Orchard Residences. This condo community was designed to be more than just a place to live - it caters to a lifestyle of opulence and sophistication. Located in the heart of Chicago's prestigious Lincoln Park neighborhood, The Orchard is steps away from parks and green spaces, an endless collection of small cafes and restaurants, and of course some of the best schools in all of Chicago. Because the building only features 32 units, you won’t find the same level of amenities as you would in a much larger downtown high-rise. However, residents in the building are treated to 24-hour door service, a state of the art fitness center with Techno gym equipment, a rooftop deck with lush and mature garden installations, and a host of concierge services that include valet dry cleaning and laundry services, dog walking and pet grooming services, package and grocery delivery, cat sitting services, and also on-demand housekeeping.
One Chicago - River North
The refined, luxurious residences of One Chicago are a sight to behold compared to many downtown dwellings today. Yet, they're only part of the reason why this place is among the most in-demand condo communities in the city. Those lucky enough to call it home enjoy what can only be described as an all-inclusive resort; residency comes with a complimentary membership to the attached Life Time Athletic health club, which comprises two floors of state-of-the-art fitness equipment, group classes, and top-notch amenities. There are several private lounges and demonstration kitchens to be found throughout the rest of the building, as well as a children's playroom, dog park, dog wash, putting green, and restaurant. And for even more convenience, a flagship Whole Foods Market location is also on the ground level, taking the need for those dreaded grocery trips out of the equation entirely.

This includes a golf lounge, drawing room, cinema, demonstration kitchen, and wine vault - all things you'd expect to find in a mansion rather than a hotel.
Tribune Tower Residences - Streeterville
Sure, a pool and gym is nice. But what if your next condo came with 360-degree views of the Chicago skyline and a piece of history? The Tribune Tower Residences, located in the heart of downtown Chicago, offers just that. The building itself is an iconic landmark, originally built in 1925 as the headquarters for the Chicago Tribune newspaper. Its stunning Gothic architecture and prominent location on Michigan Avenue make it a recognizable staple of the cityscape from near and far.
The new Tribune Tower Residences divvies up 162 condos across its 56 different floor plans, giving potential residents a wide variety of options to choose from; whether you're seeking a cozy one-bedroom or sprawling four-bedroom suite, there's something for everyone here. There's also plenty to do. The 55,000 square feet of amenities spread over four floors and include a wellness center, private courtyard, outdoor terrace, a residents-only lounge, and one of the best indoor pools you'll find in the city.

The building's amenities are just as impressive, if not more so, comprising 48,000 square feet of complimentary 5-star services and facilities. This includes a spa, massage room, conservatory, private rooftop terrace, cabana, pool, wine tasting lounge, and fitness room. 2024-01-05T09:54:00-07:002024-01-25T11:34:44-07:00Nick Nastostag:chicagospropertyshop.com,2012-09-20:7558Moving To Chicago: The Ultimate Relocation Guide
Relocating to a new city has its challenges and can be a daunting task, even for someone who is organized and well-prepared. As the third largest city in America, Chicago certainly has a lot to offer newbies to the area, from Michelin Star restaurants and impressive cultural attractions to stunning architecture and one of the most iconic skylines in the world. But unlike many other major metropolitan areas in the U.S. that sit along the east or west coast, Chicago is a city that uniquely blends Midwestern values with the flair and energy of an authentic world-class city.

The city of Chicago certainly lives up to its self-given motto of Urbs in Horto, which is a Latin phrase that means "City in a Garden”. In all you’ll find 570 parks with over 8,000 acres of parkland in Chicago, as well as 31 sand beaches, countless museums, two world-class conservatories, and 50 nature areas. Lincoln Park is one of Chicago’s largest public green spaces that encompasses 1,200 acres and attracts 20 million visitors each year, making it the third most-visited park in the U.S. behind Central Park in New York City and the National Mall and Memorial Parks in Washington D.C. Chicago's Lakefront Trail also features an 18-mile bike trail and a separate18.5 mile pedestrian trail, and many Chicago neighborhoods like Lincoln Park, Portage Park, Wicker Park, and Humboldt Park feature sprawling namesake parks that are among the city's largest green spaces.
Lakefront Trail
As alluded to above, Chicago's Lakefront Trail is truly one of the city's crown jewels when it comes to green spaces and outdoor recreation. Parks, beaches, sport courts, and even golf courses are accessible from the Lakefront Trail, and if you're someone who enjoys epic scenery when getting in your daily exercise, there's nothing quite like running or biking along the shores of Lake Michigan with Chicago's broad skyline as a backdrop.

Additionally, Chicago’s 606 Trail now runs through several of Chicago’s hippest neighborhoods to call home, including Wicker Park, Bucktown, Logan Square, and Humboldt Park.

Chicago Neighborhoods
Chicago is a city that is largely defined by its unique and individual neighborhoods. In all, there are 77 distinct communities in the city that each have their own culture and vibe, and within those 77 communities are also countless sub-communities and neighborhoods that are equally unique in their own way.
The Loop acts as Chicago’s primary downtown and financial district, and surrounding the Loop are a number of distinct downtown neighborhoods that include the South Loop, West Loop, River North, Streeterville, the New Eastside, and the Gold Coast. Just beyond downtown is where you’ll find Old Town, Lincoln Park, Lakeview, and Roscoe Village—several of the north side’s most sought-after places to call home. In recent years, west side neighborhoods like Bucktown, Wicker Park, Logan Square, and Humboldt Park have exploded in popularity, and many now consider these parts of Chicago to be the hippest places to live thanks to an influx of new restaurants, cocktail bars, breweries, and boutiques that have completely transformed each neighborhood's landscape.

Lakeview is one of the best neighborhoods for those interested in arts and culture and features the Belmont Theater District. The median home price in Lakeview is in the low $400s.

Sure, there are some obvious neighborhoods in Chicago for nightlife, but there are also a few areas you may not have thought of. Here are some Chicago neighborhoods to check out with the best cocktail bars and taverns.
Logan Square
The creative Logan Square neighborhood offers its own unique mix of cocktail bars, breweries, and distilleries. Estereo is a café by day and bar a bar by night, with a distinctly Latin influence in Logan Square. Known for its triangular-shaped bar, you’ll find mostly different tequilas, mezcals, and rums, on the menu.
Spilt Milk is a neighborhood tavern with happy hour specials during the week, and some creatively named house cocktails on the menu. The Whistler is a cocktail bar, live music venue, and record label all rolled into one. You’ll find some Whistler original cocktails on the menu, but since the menu and the entertainment is always changing, you’ll want to come back to truly see what makes this location so special.
West Loop
The West Loop is home to Restaurant Row and Greektown, but you can also find some fun shops, art galleries, cocktail bars, and taverns. Lone Wolf is a West Loop tavern with cocktails, spirits, and local craft beer on draft. Lazy Bird offers an entirely different vibe, as it’s a cocktail and music lounge in the bottom of The Hoxton hotel. The hot spot also sometimes has live music on tap.
The Aviary boasts it specializes in creative cocktails in the West Loop. Right below The Aviary is a cozy speakeasy called The Office. Along the same lines, Booze Box is a Japanese bar found underneath a sushi place.

Gold Coast
The upscale Gold Coast neighborhood is home to large old homes, high-end restaurants, and boutiques. If you’re searching for a nightcap, you can also head to one of the local hot spots. The Sparrow is a cocktail bar that’s found in the lobby of an old Art Deco apartment building.

River North
The River North neighborhood has some of Chicago’s hottest nightlife, with a number of bars and clubs to choose from. While you probably won’t have to search far for a great place to grab a drink, we recommend heading to The Drifter. This speakeasy sits in the basement of Green Door Tavern. What you drink literally depends on the hand you’re dealt, as workers choose a handful of tarot cards from the deck each night, and what’s on the cards determines which cocktails are served.
Three Dots and a Dash is another more secluded spot in River North. It describes itself as a tropical bar and craft cocktail destination. If you love rum, you won’t want to miss a visit to the venue’s Bamboo Room.

Lincoln Park
The highly desirable Lincoln Park is known for its namesake park and its top restaurants, but there’s something else that drives parents to this part of Chicago. LaSalle Language Academy is in the neighborhood. Chicago is certainly known world-wide for its amazing museums, its restaurants, and its landmark sites and attractions, but the city also has some incredible parks. It may be the third largest city in the entire nation, but that doesn’t mean the city is completely packed with tall buildings and sidewalks. In fact, some of Chicago’s most popular neighborhoods also have some of the city’s best parks.
Gold Coast
Many choose the affluent Gold Coast neighborhood for its designer boutiques and high-end restaurants, but the area also has some stunning, notable homes and architecture. If you’re in need of some green space, we have a couple of nearby recommendations. They aren’t as large as some other city parks, but they do provide a nice space to relax and enjoy the scenery.
Washington Square Park is a small park with a fountain and a garden. It’s popular for weddings, or just enjoying some tranquility in the middle of the city. Connors Park is another small park in the Gold Coast with benches and a fountain. The park’s actually been around since the mid 1800s.
Lincoln Park
Green space is abundant in the Lincoln Park neighborhood, thanks in part to its namesake park. Lincoln Park is not only where you’ll find the Lincoln Park Zoo, but also the Lincoln Park Conservatory, museums, sports fields and courts, a skate park, public beaches, and harbors. This is the city’s largest public park, and one of the most visited in the US.
While much smaller than Lincoln Park, Oz Park is a more manageable park for those with small children, as it includes some sports fields and courts, a community garden, and a playground with a Wizard of Oz-theme. Jonquil Park is a popular spot for families to play ball in the open grass, plus there’s a playground, a garden, and a spray area for kids in the summer.

Humboldt Park
Heading to Chicago’s west side, Humboldt Park is bursting with coffee shops, cafes, and street art. The park also is also home to Humboldt Beach and historic boat house.
West Loop
As home to Restaurant Row, the West Loop is a favorite of foodies. The neighborhood is much more, though, than just a former industrial area and trendy place for restaurants. Bartelme Park is a newer addition to the park scene, complete with an open lawn and viewing hill, as well as a children’s play area and a dog park.

Some people love coffee, and it’s no different in the Windy City. While you may be looking for a great cup of Joe to start your morning off right, or even warm up a little during the cooler months of the year in Chicago, you don’t have to venture far. There are a number of notorious coffee shops spread out across the city, and many of them are found in some of the city’s most popular neighborhoods. Here’s where to start if you’re looking for a Chicago neighborhood with some of the best coffee shops.
Wicker Park
The Wicker Park neighborhood has a hipster vibe, packed with vintage clothing stores, boutiques, art galleries, restaurants, and dive bars. Before, or even after you hop on The 606 to take in some outdoor recreation, the Wicker Park neighborhood has some great options in terms of coffee shops. One is Caffe Streets, which is more of a social experience. The shop even has a Masters Barista bar for craft coffee making.
Colectivo Coffee Wicker Park is a two-level coffee shop with places to sit inside and outside on the large patio. While you’re waiting for your order, check out the décor, including a hand-painted mural and a custom clock, made from a repurposed coffee roaster cooling tray. Wake-N-Bakery Wicker Park isn’t your normal coffee shop. This is a cannabis café and bakery with baked goods, as well as CBD and THC-infused coffee on the menu.
West Loop
Once known as Chicago’s meat-packing district, the West Loop has certainly grown into its own in recent years. This trendy neighborhood is now home to art galleries, shops, and some great places to grab a cup of coffee. Sawada Coffee has an industrial vibe, but there’s nothing ordinary about this coffee shop. Inside, you’ll find a punching bag, a ping pong table, and a custom painted expresso machine.
We also recommend La Colombe Coffee Roasters in the West Loop, which sits right on Restaurant Row. If you want to grab a bite to eat with your coffee, consider heading to Bittersweet Coffee and Patisserie, where you’ll find some latte drink specials, plus sandwiches and more on the menu.

The Loop
Chicago's primary business and financial district, The Loop, commonly attracts business professionals, but the neighborhood also attracts theatergoers, tourists, and locals to popular spots like Millennium Park. Luckily, the neighborhood has plenty of good options in terms of coffee shops, as well.
That includes HERO Coffee Bar, which is tucked away in an iconic spot in a tiny alley, almost hidden from the rest of the city. Top off your coffee with one of their famous breakfast bagel sandwiches. If you’re in the mood for espresso and croissants, make time to visit Espresso and Milk. You’ll find it on the first floor of the Lyric Opera of Chicago building.
Gold Coast
With its almost picture-perfect homes and streets, Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood is favored by upscale shoppers, diners, and discriminating locals. Whispers Coffee and Tea sells coffee, gelato, and baked goods with some outdoor seating.

As one of the largest cities in the nation, it’s really no surprise that Chicago also has a large selection of options when it comes to dining out. Most outsiders probably think of traditional deep-dish pizza and Chicago-style hot dogs when it comes to local eats, but the city’s dining scene is truly as diverse as it gets. The Windy City has your choice of everything from casual hot spots to upscale delights. From the city’s outdoor patios and rooftops to restaurants overlooking the Chicago River and the lakefront, you cannot go wrong when you sample your way through some of these Chicago neighborhoods with the best restaurants.
Lincoln Park
Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood sits on the north side of the city, just west of the city’s largest park of the same name. As one of Chicago’s most dynamic neighborhoods, Lincoln Park caters to tourists, upscale shoppers, and locals who know where to find the best restaurants in the city. That includes one of our favorites, Alinea. This innovative restaurant is one of a select few in the nation to earn a Michelin 3-Star rating and specializes in modernist cuisine.
BOKA is a long-standing restaurant in the neighborhood with a loyal following. The award-winning restaurant offers a tasting menu that changes by the day, with an emphasis on seasonal American selections. The food at Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba! Is something that will bring you back time and time again. The restaurant calls itself “Chicago’s original tapas bar”, where menu selections were meant to be shared.
West Loop
Notably the city’s former meat-packing district, the West Loop is a foodie’s delight. The historic warehouses of the West Loop now house some of the city’s best restaurants. We recommend heading to the section of Randolph Street best known as Restaurant Row. This is where you’ll find Girl & The Goat. While the restaurant offers some seasonal flavors, you can always count on the green beans.
You can’t make reservations at Au Cheval, but it’s worth the wait. Head there for the food & cocktail menu, dessert, or the Friday and Saturday late night menu. Nobu Chicago offers an inventive menu itself, including tasty Nobu Tacos, sushi, and more.

Frank Lloyd Wright is one of the nation’s most inspirational architects, and it’s not hard to find his style reflected in many Chicago suburbs. In fact, you’ll find several Wright-inspired homes for sale right now.
Frankfort
A new construction home in Frankfort takes its inspiration from Frank Lloyd Wright. This lofted ranch home is part of the Prairie Creek neighborhood, which includes some ponds and walking paths. It’s also not far from the shops and restaurants of Downtown Frankfort, which is a fast-growing suburban village.

An extremely unique home in Homer Glen was reportedly based off blueprints from the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation. Like some of Wright’s other designs, the home incorporates some falling water features. It also boasts prairie-style woodwork, custom art glass windows and custom light fixtures. It additionally features some dramatic cathedral ceilings. The four-bedroom, four-bath home is currently on the market. The Village of Homer Glen is a southwest suburb of Chicago.

Park Ridge
Park Ridge currently has a spectacular example of a Mid-Century Modern home on the market, inspired by the likes of Frank Lloyd Wright. The home is credited to architect Don Erickson, who originally designed the home in the early 1960s, then returned in the late 1990s to add a second level to the home. It sits on Park Lake, overlooking water views. The Park Ridge suburb sits close to O’Hare Airport, and about 15 miles from Downtown Chicago.

Oak Park
There aren’t currently any homes on the market in Oak Park’s Frank Lloyd Wright Historic District, but you just can’t mention Wright without also mentioning the famed historic district. Use a reputable developer
To begin with, you’ll want to go with a reputable developer. A well-known developer has a reputation to protect, while a smaller, lesser-known developer could leave you high and dry.
Be wary of allowed variances
It’s also important to be extremely careful when it comes to allowed construction variances. For example, things like ceiling height and square footage may have an allowed variance of plus or minus five-percent. This could be a big deal when you end up with less than expected.
Expect construction delays
Even the best developers run into delays, and when you buy pre-construction you can’t always be certain about a move-in date. Consider negotiating an “outside date” as part of the purchase contract. Should the project be considerably delayed, you have an out to cancel the contract and get your money back.

A new report from Renthop looked at monthly rental prices of some of the most populous cities in the nation, and found a pretty good swing in Chicago rent prices.
According to Renthop, it’s generally more expensive to rent in September and October, and less expensive to rent in March and April. The biggest swing came in terms of a two-bedroom apartment in Chicago. It could mean a savings of about $176 per month.
The lower rents may be tied to Chicago’s winter season. Demand traditionally dips lower during the colder months of the year. On the other hand, so does the supply of apartments, giving prospective new residents fewer options to choose from. 2020-03-23T14:06:00-07:002020-06-15T14:09:03-07:00Nick Nastostag:chicagospropertyshop.com,2012-09-20:1776Where to Find a West Loop Timber Loft Under $400,000If you're looking for a classic timber loft in Chicago but don't want to break the bank in the process, here are several buildings that might just feature an available units or two on the market for under $400,000.
