It seems we first heard about a potential residential project at 601 W. Jackson quite some time ago, and according to a recent report from Curbed, construction may soon finally begin. When finished, the parking lot that now occupies 601 West Jackson will be transformed into a gorgeous new 190-unit rental building, which will also feature 33 parking spaces and retail on the ground level.
Initially, the open space at 601 W. Jackson was slated to house a sprawling 16-story, 240-unit building, but has since scaled back to just 15 levels and the 190 rentals. Curbed goes on to mention 601 W. Jackson will be LEED certified and also have a green roof—a trend that’s becoming more and more popular in urban development.
New construction Luxury rentals all over downtown Chicago have certainly been hot in recent months, as buildings like 500 Lake Shore Drive, 111 West Wacker, and The Catalyst have been renting at an astonishing pace.
