If you’re anything like us, you probably can’t think of a better way to start off the day than with a great cup of coffee. And whether you’re a latte connoisseur or just appreciate a plain old cup of black coffee, the West Loop is loaded with great coffee houses and cafes that brew up some of the best coffee you’ll find in all downtown Chicago.
Although the list always seems to be changing (and expanding!), here’s a quick glance at some of the best coffee shop’s the West Loop area has to offer:
Lou Mitchell’s | 565 W. Jackson Blvd, Chicago IL
One of Chicago’s most iconic diners that’s been in business since 1923, Lou Mitchell’s is one of the best breakfast joints in all of Chicago, which of course means the coffee here is top-notch. Located just across east of the expressway, Greektown and West Loop gate residents should be able to walk to this awesome downtown and West Loop staple.
A world-renowned coffee-roasting company, this fabulous cafe is situated in the heart of Restaurant Row, making it a favorite among many West Loop residents. If you appreciate bold coffee, you’ll love what La Colombe serves up each and every day.
Sip Coffee House | 1223 West Grand Avenue, Chicago, IL
A locally-owned, independent coffeehouse, this West Town area cafe is one of our favorite spots for coffee in all of Chicago—seriously. We always encourage supporting small businesses around our West Loop neighborhood, but along with that, Sip Coffee House truly does serve up a mean cup of joe!
Jupiter Outpost | 1139 W. Fulton Market, Chicago, IL
While the coffee here is superb, the food is actually just as good—making it an awesome stop for a quick breakfast on the go. Its funky decor and industrial vibe also fits in well with the West Loop ambiance, which also makes it worth a visit!
Loretta’s Bake Shop & Cafe | 939 W. Randolph Street, Chicago, IL
Although known more for their artisan pastries and absolutely delicious sandwiches on homemade breads, this intimate West Loop cafe also whips of a great cup of coffee, and given its central location right on Randolph Street, it’s an easy stop for many who call this part of Chicago home!
A warm cafe atmosphere and friendly service make the Nohea Cafe and Restaurant a welcoming addition to expansive West Loop dining scene. The coffee here is tasty, but truthfully, what you really want to come to Nohea Cafe for are the fresh Boars Head sandwiches. The breakfast here is also pretty dang good too!
One of the more vibrant and colorful coffee houses you’ll find in the West Loop, the Gaudi Cafe certainly offers much more than just a hot cup of java. All kinds of tasty Mexican favorites also fill out the menu here, making it the West Loop’s only true Mexican-style cafe.
