After the demolition of the Bucktown Aldi at 1767 N. Milwaukee, many area residents have been wondering what will take over such a premium site that literally sits right alongside the 606 Trail, which is an outdoor amenity that’s continuing to fuel interest among home buyers and renters. But as construction continues to keep pushing forward on the replacement project, more details and renderings have been uncovered, giving curious Bucktown locals a better idea of what’s in store for what’s now a pretty high-profile location.
Back in the spring, early reports mentioned a new mixed-use development possibly being built in place of the stand-alone Aldi store, which would include 100 new upscale apartments and also 18,000 square feet of retail space, which would ultimately be used for a new-and-improved Aldi.
In May, Curbed featured a preliminary rendering from the developer, Centrum Partners, and just last week, a few additional renderings were also uncovered that now give Bucktown locals an even clearer picture of what’s to come. A couple of those renderings are featured below, and if all goes according to plan, the new project that’s officially being called Centrum 606 should wrap up construction sometime next year.
Stay tuned for pre-leasing details and additional information about apartments for rent at Centrum 606.
