Most of us who live in Chicago know the West Loop is a hub for highly-touted restaurants and eateries. And while there’s certainly no shortage of upscale establishments that serve up some of the Windy City’s best eats, it’s also our preferred destination for a good old fashioned cheeseburger.
From the famous double cheeseburgers with an egg on top at Au Cheval to the mouth watering burgers of Shake Shack—one of the fastest growing restaurant chains in the country—the West Loop has clearly established itself as Chicago’s top spot for a premium burger. And here are just a few reasons why:
When talking about the best burgers in the West Loop, the list has to begin with Au Cheval. Previously recognized by Food Network as having the best burger in the country, it's safe to say the food here is pretty good.
Grange Hall Burger Bar
Too hungry for the long waits at Au Cheval? Swing by Grange Hall Burger Bar. Offering a solid selection of farm-to-table burgers with local toppings, this also one of our favorite places in all of Chicago for a premium burger in a pretty awesome West Loop setting.
If you’re wondering why we added a fast casual chain to our list, you’ve clearly never been to Shake Shack. Self-described as a modern day version of a roadside burger stand, Shake Shack is easily the best spot in the West Loop to hit during a short lunch break or if you’re looking for a quality burger on-the-go.
Kuma's Corner - West Loop
Kuma’s Corner hardly needs an introduction, which is why we’ll keep this short. And thanks to its recent West Loop expansion, now those of us who live on this side of town don’t have to travel all the way up to Avondale to satisfy our frequent Kuma’s cravings!
If you’re looking for a casual spot to watch a game and have a quality burger, the WestEnd is never a bad option. It’s also one of our favorite places to hit before a Bulls or Blackhawks game thanks to its free shuttle. But don’t forget to tip the driver.
MAD Social may not be the first place that comes to mind when thinking about a delicious West Loop burger joint—but all the food here is downright tasty, including one of our favorites, the MAD Burger.
