The West Loop has seen its fair share of restaurant and bar openings over the past several years, but one of our newfound favorites that’s certainly worth a visit if you’re ever in the area is Old Fifth—a primitive gastro-minded eatery that’s handsomely designed, and focused on nothing more than tasty pizza and good ole’ fashioned whiskey.
Sounds simple, right? Well, not so fast.
Old Fifth isn’t just your typical pizza joint, but rather the kind of place that’s perfect for an after-work social gathering, or somewhere to grab dinner before a Bulls or Blackhawks game. On the drinking side of things, Old Fifth features around 140 different kinds of whiskey, while the beer and wine list is certainly adequate enough for those who prefer something a little lighter than bourbon, scotch, or any other form of whiskey that’s offered up on Old Fifth’s extensive list of spirits.
In terms of what to eat, there are several Old Fifth specialty pies, which includes our favorite—the Double Decker Pepperoni—but you’ll also have the option to create your own pizza, which offers guests the ability to choose their type of crust, cheeses, meats, veggies, and various other assorted toppings that make for an awesome dining experience.
Old Fifth’s hours of operation are Monday through Wednesday 11:30 a.m. to 12 a.m.; Thursday through Saturday 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 a.m.; and Sundays from 11:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. To learn more about Old Fifth, visit their website here, or follow them on Facebook and Twitter for updates, specials, and more!
